Commercial transport revolution: Stellantis Pro One bets on 11 new models and an autonomous "box on wheels" by 2030

The commercial vehicle market is preparing for a radical transformation. Stellantis Pro One, the commercial vehicle division of the multinational automotive giant, has put on the table an extremely ambitious strategy: the launch of 11 new commercial vehicle models by 2030.

The plan does not just aim at simple portfolio diversification, but a total technological reinvention, culminating in a fully autonomous commercial vehicle concept.

A massive offensive: From thermal engines to 100% electric propulsion

Stellantis understands that the global transition to sustainability cannot be achieved overnight, which is why the new 11-model offensive will adopt a multi-energy approach. Commercial customers will have a highly flexible range of powertrains at their disposal:

  • Latest generation thermal engines (for long routes and traditional infrastructure);
  • Hybrid propulsion systems (ideal for the transition to the urban environment);
  • 100% electric versions (for zero emissions in big cities).

In addition to the diversity of engines, Stellantis is also expanding its geographic and segment presence. The strategy includes the development of a new small utility model and increased attention to the South American market, a region with huge growth potential for commercial logistics.

STLA Brain and the Pro One NEXT ecosystem

Artificial intelligence and connectivity are becoming the backbone of the new utility vehicles. The mid- and large-sized models in the upcoming range will be developed based on the STLA Brain electronic architecture. This advanced software platform will enable over-the-air (OTA) updates, real-time route optimization and more efficient fleet management.

In parallel, Stellantis wants to simplify the lives of courier companies in Europe by launching Stellantis Pro One NEXT.

What is Stellantis Pro One NEXT? It is a digital and logistics ecosystem structured on 5 strategic pillars, designed to streamline "last mile" deliveries. At the moment, the project is already in the pilot testing phase, to be implemented on a large scale after refining the technical details.

The autonomous future is presented in Hanover: A "box on wheels"

The most spectacular component of this plan is undoubtedly the bet on autonomous driving. Stellantis has confirmed that one of the 11 future models will be fully autonomous.

The first clear indications of what this vehicle will look like will be given on September 14th, at the renowned Hanover Commercial Vehicles Show. The manufacturer did not hesitate to use an extremely direct and pragmatic description for this concept: a box on wheels.

The cubic shape is no coincidence, but represents the pinnacle of functionality: maximized cargo space, optimization for delivery robots and the elimination of traditional design elements intended for the human driver. With this approach, the Stellantis Pro One not only keeps up with the future, but directly aims to dictate it.
