Skoda Elroq and Enyaq receive cutting-edge technology: LFP batteries and new multimedia system from 2026

Skoda recalibrates electric offensive: Major upgrade for Elroq and Enyaq from 2026
The Mladá Boleslav-based manufacturer is not slowing down after a historic 2025. The stars of the zero-emission range, the Elroq and Enyaq, are receiving an impressive list of technical and comfort improvements, from LFP batteries for the basic versions to a completely new multimedia system and the long-awaited "frunk".
After ending 2025 in a strong position, Skoda is proving that success is not a coincidence, but the result of rapid adaptation to market demands. Last year, the new compact model Elroq caused a real surprise, ranking second in the top of the best-selling electric cars in Europe, with over 95,300 units delivered. The Elroq managed to dominate the monthly rankings in April, July and October, coming within a step of obtaining the prestigious title of "Car of the Year in Europe".
Its bigger brother, the Enyaq, was no slouch either. With 79,600 units delivered, the Czech electric flagship secured 7th place in the European top, confirming that the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform remains extremely competitive under the baton of Skoda engineers.
The Digital Revolution: Goodbye, lag; Hello, Android!
The most visible change for future owners will be the new multimedia system. Skoda is switching to an Android-based architecture, promising superior fluidity and a completely redesigned interface. Users will benefit from an intuitive "Search" function and a virtual application store directly in the car. Thus, services such as Spotify or YouTube, as well as various games, will be able to be used natively, without depending exclusively on mirroring from the phone.
An important detail: company representatives confirmed that this system requires new hardware, which means that it will not be available as an update for cars already sold, but only for units produced starting in mid-2026.
Also in the technology section, Skoda introduces the digital key for the first time. Through the MySkoda application, the phone becomes the car's remote control, allowing starting and access without a physical key. Moreover, the owner can "lend" the car digitally to family members, sending them access permission directly to their smartphone.
"Simply Clever" in the Electric Age: Frunk and V2L
Although Skoda is famous for its practical solutions, electric models have so far lacked storage space under the front hood. From 2026, this will change: the Elroq and Enyaq will receive a 21-liter "frunk" equipped with telescopes, ideal for storing charging cables, thus freeing up useful space in the main trunk.
Another major innovation is the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function. The car transforms into a giant battery on wheels, capable of powering external devices via an adapter: from electric scooters and camping equipment to a coffee maker, directly from the charging port or from the 230V outlet inside.
Increased efficiency and safety
To make city driving more relaxing, the One Pedal function has been introduced. In the transmission's B mode, drivers can choose between two levels of energy recovery, with the system now able to stop the car completely just by lifting their foot off the accelerator.
Safety also takes a leap forward with Travel Assist 3.0. All sensors and radars on the car have been replaced with new generations, offering more natural lane-keeping maneuvers and smoother adaptive cruise control response. Also, a video camera located in the rearview mirror will constantly monitor the driver's fatigue.
LFP Battery: Longevity for Entry-Level Versions
Perhaps the most important change “under the hood” is the switch to LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) technology for the base versions, the Elroq 60 and Enyaq 60. This battery with a net capacity of 58 kWh promises a longer life and better resistance to repeated 100% charging cycles. Although LFP chemistry is often associated with slower charging speeds, Skoda has managed to achieve a power of 105 kW, which allows a 10-80% charge in just 26 minutes.
Availability
This massive package of innovations, which also includes 25W wireless charging (Qi2 compatible with magnet) and optimizations at the optical block level, will enter series production in mid-2026. Until then, Skoda continues to deliver record volumes, preparing the ground to become the undisputed leader of the electric volume segment in Europe.
