Kia Seltos officially comes to Europe: All the details about the SUV that debuts in 2026

Kia Seltos debuts in Europe: the SUV that wants to rewrite the rules in the compact segment

After years of success in the Korean, Indian and North American markets, the Kia Seltos is finally getting its European visa. The brand's second best-selling model globally arrives on the Old Continent in its second generation, ready to put pressure on established rivals such as the Volkswagen T-Roc or the Toyota C-HR.

With this launch, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, Kia marks two major technological premieres that car enthusiasts will be talking about for a long time to come.

"Opposites United" Design: The Meeting of Futurism and Robustness

The new Seltos does not go unnoticed. Adopting the Opposites United design language, the SUV achieves an interesting aesthetic fusion: it retains the robustness of classic SUVs with thermal engines, but borrows the minimalist and avant-garde lines of the electric range (such as the EV6 or EV9).

The exterior that "steals" the eye

  • Light signature: LED headlights and taillights integrate the Star Map concept, providing an unmistakable nighttime visual identity.
  • Premium details: The black front grille and 18 or 19 inch wheels emphasize the dynamic character.
  • Exclusive colors: Of the 10 available shades, three were created specifically for the European audience: Beige Tan, Denim Blue and Pale Gray.

A digitalized "Cockpit" and artificial intelligence

The interior of the new Kia Seltos is a huge leap forward from the previous generation. The centerpiece is the curved cluster that houses three screens:

  1. Instrument cluster: 12.3 inches (fully digital).
  2. Multimedia system: 12.3 inches.
  3. Climate control: 5.3 inches.

Beyond the screens, Seltos is all about comfort and connectivity. Passengers can enjoy a panoramic roof with electric sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting and a high-fidelity audio system from Harman Kardon. Furthermore, the car comes equipped with an AI-powered digital assistant, ready to respond to complex voice commands, and supports Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

Absolute premiere: e-AWD and V2L Technology

If the Seltos impresses in terms of design, it innovates in terms of engineering. For the first time on this model, Kia is introducing Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. This allows users to use the energy from the car's battery to charge various external devices (laptops, electric bicycles or camping equipment) - a rare feature in this segment.

Engines and performance

European customers will have the choice between two driving philosophies:

Powertrain Power Transmission Drivetrain
1.6 T-GDi (Gasoline) 180 HP / 265 Nm 6-speed Manual or 7-speed DCT FWD or AWD (on DCT)
1.6 Hybrid (HEV) 154 HP (FWD) / 178 HP (e-AWD) 6-speed Automatic FWD or e-AWD

The hybrid version introduces the e-AWD (electric all-wheel drive) system, which optimizes power distribution between the axles without the need for a traditional cardan shaft, thus increasing efficiency and interior space.

Safety and Space

Despite being a compact SUV, the Seltos doesn't compromise on utility. The boot offers a generous 536 litres of volume, ideal for family trips.

On the safety side, the Level 2 ADAS package makes driving a much more relaxed experience. Systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control 2.0 or Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist work constantly to prevent accidents. Drivers can also optionally opt for a Head-up Display system that projects essential information directly into their field of vision.

When do we see her on the streets?

Production of the petrol version will start in the second quarter of 2026, with the hybrid version (the most anticipated, by the way) to be available shortly after. With three trim levels (Baseline, X-Line and GT Line), the Kia Seltos looks set to become the new favorite of those who want a technologically advanced, yet balanced SUV.

Are you ready to see the new Seltos on the roads of Romania? Considering the success of its bigger brothers, the Sportage and Sorento, the stakes are huge.
