Bugatti Mistral Caroline: A one-of-a-kind 1600 HP love letter written in shades of lavender

Bugatti "Caroline": A symphony in lavender hues and a 1600 HP tribute to paternal love
Molsheim, France – In the world of hypercars, where performance figures often seem detached from quantum physics, Bugatti manages to bring a touch of poetry and sensitivity. The newest member of the exclusive W16 Mistral family is not just a triumph of engineering, but a love letter on four wheels. Named “Caroline,” this one-of-a-kind example was created through the Sur Mesure customization program for a collector who wanted to honor his daughter with a mobile work of art.
Lavender and Carbon Violet: A “Haute Couture” Aesthetic
The first look at the “Caroline” model reveals an aesthetic rarely seen in the world of cars over 400 km/h. The bodywork is dressed in a custom shade of Lavender (light purple), inspired by the lavender fields of Provence and the gardens of Paris. This special paint has chameleon-like properties, subtly changing its reflections depending on the angle of the light.
Contrast is provided by the lower sections made of Violet Carbon – an exposed carbon fiber but treated with a purple pigment, which provides depth and a sophisticated visual structure.
The details that make the difference: "Caroline" under the spoiler
What makes this Mistral an absolute collector's item are the hidden details. Beneath the lower surface of the active spoiler, the designers have hand-painted the name "Caroline", framed by delicate floral motifs. These designs are not mere decorative elements, but an extension of the owner's chosen "garden" theme.
The interior continues this chromatic story. The cabin is dominated by a combination of leather in the shades Blanc (immaculate white) and Minuit (dark blue/midnight), with purple accents that connect the interior to the exterior. A tribute to the brand's history is found on the gear selector lever: the famous "Dancing Elephant", a sculpture created by Rembrandt Bugatti, is set here in a glass capsule, like a jewel.
Heart W16: The Legend's Last Performance
Paradoxically, a “monster” pulses under the hood of this delicate roadster. The 8.0-liter engine, with 16 W-cylinders and 4 turbochargers, develops a colossal power of 1600 hp.
- 0-100 km/h: 2.4 seconds.
- Top speed: Electronically limited to 420 km/h (although the model has recently demonstrated that it can exceed the 450 km/h threshold).
This is the last road model to receive the legendary W16 engine, marking the end of an era that began with the Veyron in 2005.
The Price of Exclusivity: How Much Does "Caroline" Cost?
Bugatti has not disclosed the exact price paid by the customer for this "Sur Mesure" example, but we can make an educated guess based on the current market.
A “standard” Bugatti W16 Mistral (if you can call it that, a model produced in just 99 units) has a starting price of 5 million euros (excluding taxes). Given the complexity of the custom paint, unique floral embroidery and “one-off” status, it is estimated that “Caroline” took between 6 and 8 million euros out of the happy father’s pocket.
Some auction market sources even suggest that unique examples of the Mistral series, such as the recent "La Perle Rare", can reach values ??of up to $9 million due to the immense potential for appreciation over time.
The Bugatti W16 Mistral "Caroline" remains a symbol of how raw technology can intertwine with artistic refinement, demonstrating that, at this level, a car is no longer a means of transportation, but a family heirloom.
