Nissan Qashqai e-Power enters the Book of Records - details about performance, equipment and prices in Romania
A compact SUV without plug-in charging has just redefined the concept of energy efficiency. The Nissan Qashqai e-Power has officially entered the Guinness Book of World Records after covering a distance of 1,980 kilometers on a single tank of fuel, without stopping to refuel or recharge.
The official title awarded by the organization is "the longest journey made by an electric SUV with extended autonomy without plug-in connection (non-PHEV), without external recharging or refueling."
How the e-Power hybrid system works
The e-Power system developed by Nissan proposes a different technical approach compared to classic hybrids: the wheels are driven exclusively by a 190 HP and 330 Nm electric motor, while a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine works only as a generator to charge the battery and power the electric unit.
Thus, there is no direct mechanical connection between the petrol engine and the wheels. The driver benefits from the smooth acceleration, instant torque and quietness of a 100% electric car, completely eliminating the dependence on the charging station network or long waiting times at the socket.
From 2.600 meters altitude directly to sea level
The performance was achieved over three days of driving through Colombia, on a route between the capital Bogotá (located at over 2,600 meters altitude) and the Caribbean Sea coast.
The steep descent and regenerative braking played a key technical role, allowing the system to capture a massive amount of kinetic energy on descents. Compared to the model's standard 55-liter tank, average consumption during the record-breaking journey was around 2.7 – 2.8 liters / 100 km.
While Nissan did not provide details on the exact average speed, each stage of the route was independently monitored and certified by Guinness World Records. For comparison, the official data sheet in the European WLTP test cycle indicates an official combined consumption of between 4.3 and 5.3 liters / 100 km, depending on equipment and road conditions.
Equipment and prices on the Romanian market
In Romania, e-Power technology is available on the updated (facelift) version of the Nissan Qashqai model, in a 190 HP configuration and front-wheel drive. The range is structured in five equipment levels:
- Acenta (Starting price: ~38,900 euros): Includes alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, touchscreen multimedia system, rearview camera, and integrated driver assistance package.
- N-Connecta (Starting price: ~41,900 euros): Adds fully digital instrument cluster, extended central screen with integrated navigation, 360° panoramic view camera system (Around View Monitor) and full parking sensors.
- N-Design (Starting price: ~44,000 euros): It stands out with sporty aesthetic elements, black exterior inserts, body elements painted in the exterior color and large alloy wheels.
- Tekna (Starting price: ~43,500 euros): Equipped with adaptive matrix LED headlights, Head-Up Display on the windshield, eco-leather upholstery and the advanced ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving package.
- Tekna Plus (Starting price: ~45,500 euros) The top variant offers Nappa leather seats with massage function, Bose premium audio system, panoramic glass roof and higher-level interior finishes.
