Kia EV9 gets major update: Special Black Edition and cutting-edge technologies for the top electric SUV
The South Korean automaker is overhauling its largest electric SUV in its lineup. The Kia EV9 benefits from improvements to interior comfort, an optimized regenerative braking system, and a spectacular new edition — the Black Edition.
Technological innovations and added refinement in the cabin
The flagship model of the South Korean brand receives a series of updates aimed at raising the bar of on-board comfort, adapted depending on the equipment level selected.
Among the most important changes to the interior are the introduction of suede leather upholstery in the center console area and on the door panels, offering a premium tactile feel. Also, passengers in the third row of seats will enjoy increased comfort in the cold season, thanks to the optional heating function.
In terms of technology and utility, the new EV9 comes with:
- High-Power USB-C Port: Now increased to 100W, allowing for fast power delivery to laptops and high-power devices.
- I-Pedal 3.0 System: The latest version of the single-pedal drive system. It optimizes regenerative braking, providing smoother and more efficient deceleration control.
Black Edition: Athletic attitude and exclusive details
The most attractive new addition to the updated lineup is the Kia EV9 Black Edition. As its name suggests, this version relies on a dark aesthetic, dominated by black accents on the exterior and top-quality materials on the interior.
What's new on the outside:
- Body elements in high-gloss black: The front grille, skid plates, side sills, roof rails and exterior mirror caps are finished completely in black.
- Dedicated wheels: Set of 20-inch wheels painted in black.
- Special emblems: Kia logos receive a dark treatment for a cohesive look.
The interior environment:
Inside, customers will find exclusive Black Edition seats upholstered in black quilted leather. The trim levels also receive increased attention: the Air variant now includes interior applications in glossy grey, while the GT-Line trim offers suede inserts as standard.
Top autonomy and ultra-fast charging at 800V
The technical heart of the SUV remains just as impressive. The Kia EV9 offers a maximum range of up to 563 kilometers in the WLTP combined cycle.
Thanks to the advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes just 24 minutes at a DC fast charging station:
- RWD (rear-wheel drive) version: Recovers up to 249 km of range in just 15 minutes of charging.
- AWD (all-wheel drive) version: Adds up to 226 km in the same 15-minute range.
