Ford Puma Gen-E beats the competition: top electric sales in November 2025

Ford Puma Gen-E, the New Leader of the Electric Car Market in Romania in November 2025

The Romanian automotive market experienced a notable transformation in November 2025, with the pure electric vehicle (BEV) segment continuing to accelerate, achieving impressive growth. According to the latest data provided by the General Directorate of Driving Licenses and Registrations (DRPCIV), electric car registrations reached a total of 1,052 units during the month, marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year.

In this effervescent context, a new undisputed leader has emerged: the Ford Puma Gen-E.

Puma Gen-E: The Best-Selling Electric Car

The electric version of the popular Ford Puma crossover, produced entirely at the Craiova plant, has climbed to first position in the electric vehicle sales ranking.

  •     124 Puma Gen-E units were registered in November.
  •     This success is not only a triumph of the model itself, but also a victory for domestic production.

Puma Gen-E thus confirms the tendency of Romanian consumers to orient themselves towards affordable and high-performance models, which also benefit from the advantage of local origin.

Ford Consolidates Its Position

The excellent performance of the Puma Gen-E is complemented by solid sales of other electric models in the Ford portfolio:

  •     Ford Capri Electric: 44 units sold.
  •     Ford Explorer Electric: 39 units sold.

Thanks to these results, Ford won a 21% market share in the electric car segment in Romania in November.

"We are proud that Ford is the leader in electric vehicle sales in Romania and we are delighted with the customer appreciation for the Puma Gen-E, a model manufactured exclusively at the Craiova plant."

    – Roxana Cap?t?, Managing Director Ford Romania Services.

The statement emphasizes not only market success, but also the pride associated with local production, a factor that seems to play an increasingly important role in Romanians' purchasing decisions.

Price and Accessibility

Another key element supporting the model's popularity is its competitive price. The new Ford Puma Gen-E has a starting price of 35,588 euros (list price in Romania), positioning itself as an attractive option compared to other similar models in its class.

November 2025 marks an important milestone for the Romanian automotive market, confirming the maturation of the electric segment and the rapid rise of locally produced models. The Ford Puma Gen-E took over from the Dacia Spring, which had long dominated the rankings, demonstrating that there is a growing demand for compact electric vehicles, manufactured in Romania.

Top 5: Best-Selling Electric Cars in Romania (November)

The market dominance of the Ford Puma Gen-E has reconfigured the traditional ranking, which had long been led by the Dacia Spring. Here is the top of pure electric cars (BEV) registered in November, ordered by the number of units sold:

Rank Model Number of Units Sold BEV Market Share Key Details
1 Ford Puma Gen-E 124 11.79% The new leader, locally produced in Craiova. Benefited from launch and availability.
2 Dacia Spring 105 9.98% The former leader, remains a strong player due to its accessible price.
3 Tesla Model Y 88 8.36% Continues to be the most popular premium electric SUV.
4 Hyundai Kona Electric 62 5.89% Appreciated for its long range and standard features.
5 Renault Megane E-Tech 59 5.61% The French electric hatchback is popular among fleet customers.

Observations and Trends

  • Changing of the Guard: The Dacia Spring, which held the supremacy in recent years, has been dethroned by the Ford Puma Gen-E. This signals an opening of the market to newer models, although the Dacia Spring's (lower) price continues to keep it at the top.
  • Ford's strength: With a total of 207 units sold (Puma Gen-E, Capri and Explorer electric), Ford took the overall lead, reaching a 21% share in the electric segment.
  • Interest in Premium Models: The consistent presence of the Tesla Model Y at the top demonstrates that, although the volume segment is dominated by the Puma Gen-E and Spring, there is a healthy appetite for premium models with advanced technology.

The success of the Puma Gen-E demonstrates that, while the Dacia Spring remains the champion of affordability, the Ford Puma Gen-E has managed to establish itself as the preferred volume option for Romanians who want a larger, more powerful, locally manufactured electric vehicle.
