Dacia Sandero remains the best-selling car in Europe after the first eight months of 2026

Dacia Sandero maintains its leading position on the European market

The small class model of the Mioveni brand continues its excellent course in the European automotive industry. After the first eight months of 2026, Dacia Sandero maintains its first position in the car sales ranking on the Old Continent, being the preferred choice of over one hundred thousand buyers.

From the beginning of the year until the end of August, 145,424 Dacia Sanderos were sold in Europe. Although this figure represents a decrease of 11.2% compared to the same period last year, the volume of deliveries was high enough to keep the domestic model at the top of European customers' preferences.

Ranking of the best-selling models in Europe

Competition in the continental car market remains extremely tight, with frequent changes in the top of preferences, but Sandero has managed to create a considerable lead over its main pursuers.

Second place in the overall ranking is occupied by the Volkswagen Golf, with 133,249 units registered, while the podium is completed by another model of the German group, the Volkswagen T-Roc crossover, which registered 132,845 units.

Sales, equipment and prices on the Romanian market

On the domestic market, Dacia Sandero (along with the Sandero Stepway crossover variant) continues to be one of the brand's main sales pillars, surpassed in volume only by the Logan sedan and the Duster SUV. Demand remains strong both among individuals and in the fleet segment.

For customers in Romania, the Dacia Sandero range is clearly structured into two body styles (classic Sandero and Sandero Stepway) and several equipment levels:

Available equipment:

  • Essential: The entry-level model, focused on essential functionality, including mandatory safety systems, signature Y-shaped LED headlights and Media Control smartphone support.
  • Expression: The intermediate and most popular version, adding an 8-inch touchscreen for the Media Display multimedia system, rain sensor, rear electric windows and a steering wheel covered in eco-leather.
  • Journey / Extreme (on Stepway): The top levels offering alloy wheels, automatic climate control, hands-free access card, reversing camera and specific aesthetic details (copper elements and washable upholstery on the Extreme version).

Engines:

  • TCe 90: 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, available with manual or CVT automatic transmission.
  • ECO-G 100: The bi-fuel version (Gasoline + LPG), extremely appreciated on the Romanian market due to its low running costs and combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers.

Price levels in Romania:

  • Classic Sandero range: Starting prices start at approximately 13,200 euros (including VAT) for the Essential level and can reach around 16,000 euros for higher equipment.
  • Sandero Stepway range: Thanks to its raised ground clearance and crossover appearance, the Stepway range starts at approximately 14,900 euros and goes up to approximately 18,500 euros for top-of-the-line versions equipped with a CVT automatic transmission.
