Volkswagen presents the ID.Cross, the electric successor to the T-Cross

Volkswagen ID.Cross: The electric "brother" of the T-Cross promises a revolution under 30,000 euros
WOLFSBURG / AMSTERDAM – In a strategic move aimed at democratizing electric mobility, Volkswagen took the newest member of the ID family for a “ride” on the streets of Amsterdam: the ID.Cross model. Although covered in colorful camouflage, the new compact SUV left admiring its proportions that announce it as the zero-emission spiritual successor to the popular T-Cross.
With a European launch scheduled for fall 2026, the ID.Cross is not just another electric vehicle, but a direct response to market demand for affordable cars, with a starting price estimated at around 28,000 euros.
"Pure Positive" Design: The Smile of the New Generation
Built on the modular MEB+ architecture, the ID.Cross adopts the brand's new design language, called "Pure Positive." According to German officials, the car's lines focus on balance and a "friendly" aesthetic.
- Urban dimensions: With a length of 4,153 mm and a wheelbase of 2,601 mm, the car promises increased maneuverability in the city without sacrificing interior space.
- Light signature: Top trims (Style) will benefit from Matrix LED headlights and, for the first time in this segment, illuminated front/rear logos, joined by LED strips that give the car an unmistakable nighttime visual identity.
Three power levels and a surprise inside
Volkswagen seems to have learned from customer criticism. The interior of the new ID.Cross marks the return of physical buttons on the steering wheel, abandoning the controversial touch zones of the first ID models. The center console is dominated by a generous 13-inch screen, and the 475-liter trunk exceeds expectations for the compact class.
Under the hood (or, rather, under the floor), buyers will be able to choose between three engine options:
- Entry-level: 116 hp
- Mid-range: 135 hp
- Performance: 211 HP
Autonomy is provided by two battery options. The 37 kWh one promises approximately 316 km, while the 52 kWh option ups the ante to 436 km (WLTP). Furthermore, the 3.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function will allow users to power various electrical devices directly from the car battery – an ideal feature for camping or emergency situations.
Technical data sheet in brief:

| Platform | MEB+ (Front-Wheel Drive) |
| Ground Clearance | 140 mm |

The market verdict
With the ID.Cross, Volkswagen is attacking the electric B-SUV segment, where competition is getting fierce with the arrival of models like the Renault 5 or the upcoming affordable proposals from Stellantis. If the Germans manage to keep the price threshold below 30,000 euros, the ID.Cross has every chance of becoming the new "best-seller" of the electric era.
