Skoda Peaq: Official name for the new 7-seat electric SUV that will dominate the Czech range

Skoda Peaq: 7-seat electric "flagship" that redefines space and technology

If less than a week ago we were analyzing the first clues about the Czechs' new electric SUV , while mystery hung over its identity, today Skoda dispelled any trace of doubt and officially announced that the future production model will be called Peaq.

The era of electric mobility at Skoda is taking it to the next level. After the success of the Enyaq models and the recent launch of the Elroq, the Mlada Boleslav-based manufacturer has officially confirmed the name of its upcoming large electric SUV: the Skoda Peaq. Designed to be the largest and most luxurious model in the brand's lineup, the Peaq promises to be the zero-emission alternative to the popular Kodiaq, bringing a new breath of fresh air to the family SUV market.

From the Vision 7S concept to the reality called Peaq

The name of the new model was not chosen by chance. Derived from the English word "peak", the Skoda Peaq symbolizes its position as the top of the range. Its design is based on the Vision 7S concept, presented in 2022, which introduced the brand's new aesthetic language, called "Modern Solid".

The centerpiece of the exterior design will be the “Tech-Deck Face” – a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Skoda grille, which now integrates advanced sensors and cameras under a glass panel. The robust lines, slim “T”-shaped optical blocks and the logo in text form (instead of the traditional emblem) will give the car an imposing presence on the road.

Performance: Range of over 600 km

Developed on the Volkswagen Group's MEB modular platform, the Skoda Peaq will benefit from the latest battery and efficiency technologies. According to anticipated specifications (based on the Vision 7S prototype), the model will be equipped with a generous battery of approximately 89 kWh, capable of providing a range of over 600 kilometers (WLTP).

Furthermore, the system architecture will enable fast charging of up to 200 kW, meaning that a charge from 10% to 80% will take less than 30 minutes, an essential aspect for long trips with the family.
Interior: Generous space and “Simply Clever” solutions

Skoda has always valued practicality, and the Peaq is no exception. With a 7-seat configuration, the SUV is designed for large families. The interior will be dominated by sustainable, recycled materials, and ingenious storage solutions. A large central touchscreen will handle most functions, but Skoda has promised to retain haptic controls for intuitive use while driving.

Estimated price and availability in Romania

Although the official launch of the name took place recently, the world premiere of the production model is scheduled for the summer of 2026. We can expect the first units to arrive in showrooms in Romania towards the end of the same year or at the beginning of 2027.

In terms of price, being positioned above the Enyaq, the Skoda Peaq will enter the affordable premium segment. Current estimates for the Romanian market indicate a starting price of approximately 55,000 - 60,000 euros (VAT included), a value that can be considerably reduced through government programs such as Rabla Plus, depending on the legislation in force at the time of launch.

Competition on the Romanian market

The 7-seat electric SUV segment is becoming increasingly crowded, and the Skoda Peaq will have to compete with established or newly launched models:

  1. Kia EV9: Probably the strongest rival, it offers a futuristic design and 800V technology for ultra-fast charging, but at a significantly higher price (over €70,000).
  2. Volkswagen ID. Buzz (long version): Although it is an MPV with a minibus look, it offers unbeatable interior space and the same technical platform.
  3. Peugeot e-5008: A more affordable variant, recently launched, which emphasizes the spectacular interior design (i-Cockpit) and the versatility of the 7 seats.
  4. Tesla Model Y (7-seat version): Recently introduced to the European market, the 7-seat version of the Model Y remains a benchmark for efficiency, although the space in the third row of seats is more limited than advertised on the Peaq.

Conclusion

The Skoda Peaq promises to be a hugely important player for the Czech brand, being the missing piece of the electric puzzle to attract customers who need space without compromise. With a modern design, solid autonomy and the promise of a competitive price, the Peaq has every chance of becoming the new standard for electric family SUVs.
