Chinese manufacturer BYD launches the new Atto 8 in Europe, an electric SUV with up to 775 HP and a range of over 600 km

How much will the new BYD Atto 8 cost in Romania, 462 HP RWD, 775 HP AWD versions and estimated prices

This year's Paris Motor Show was the scene of major launches that are redrawing the map of the global automotive industry. Among the absolute premieres that caught everyone's attention is the Chinese manufacturer BYD, which marked a new turning point with the official presentation of the Atto 8 model - the brand's new top of the range on the European market and its first full-size electric SUV equipped with 7 seats.

Minimalist positioning and exterior design

With a length of 5,040 millimeters, a width of 1,996 millimeters and a height of 1,760 millimeters, the new Atto 8 imposes a massive and elegant presence on the road, being the largest vehicle in the manufacturer's European range.

  • Clean stylistic language: The exterior adopts a minimalist philosophy, marked by fluid lines and clean surfaces.
  • LED optical units: The main headlights are discreetly integrated into the bumper, while the LED daytime running lights are positioned separately on the edges of the hood, providing an unmistakable visual signature.
  • Rear: The LED taillights are unified by a light strip with a complex texture, inspired by sophisticated geometric motifs.

Digitalized interior, maximum versatility and space for 7 passengers

The cabin of the new BYD Atto 8 transforms every journey into a business class experience, with the main focus being absolute comfort and advanced technology.

  • Digital architecture: The driving position integrates a generous 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an advanced head-up display.
  • Top comfort: Front passengers enjoy ergonomic seats that are ventilated, heated and equipped with a complex massage function. Standard equipment includes 3-zone automatic climate control, a massive panoramic glass roof with an area of ??2.39 square meters, a premium audio system with 21 speakers and even an integrated refrigerated compartment.
  • Practicality: In the 7-seat configuration, the trunk offers a volume of 270 liters. By folding the last two rows of seats, the usable space increases spectacularly to 1,960 liters. In addition, being built on a dedicated electric platform, the car also has a front storage compartment (frunk) of 136 liters.

Two engine versions and supercar performance

The new top of the range is available in Europe in two highly performing technical configurations:

  1. RWD (Rear-wheel Drive) Design: Equipped with a single electric motor that develops 462 horsepower and 365 Nm of torque. It provides a 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds and is coupled to a 115 kWh Blade battery, offering a range of 652 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
  2. Excellence AWD (All-Wheel Drive): Uses a dual-motor system that delivers a staggering combined output of 775 horsepower. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h is achieved in just 4.6 seconds and the range reaches 602 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, using the same 115 kWh battery pack.

Revolutionary technology: Ultra-fast charging in just 9 minutes

One of the absolute strengths of the new Atto 8 is the European debut of the second generation of the Blade battery.

  • Flash Charging System: The new architecture supports extreme charging powers, reducing parking times at public stations to unprecedented levels. A charge from 10% to 70% takes just 5 minutes, while the level from 10% to 97% is reached in just 9 minutes.
  • Extreme thermal efficiency: Even in severe winter conditions, at temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius, a charge from 20% to 97% is achieved in just 12 minutes.
  • To support this technology, the manufacturer announced the expansion of its network of BYD Flash Charging stations to 3,000 points in Europe by the end of next year.

Availability and estimated prices for the Romanian market

Although the brand's representatives did not publish the final official price lists for the entire European network at the Paris Motor Show, the commercial launch is scheduled to officially begin early next year.

  •     Launch in Romania: The new BYD Atto 8 is expected to appear in showrooms in the national network next year, becoming the brand's new flagship on the local market.
  •     Estimated prices: Given the generous dimensions, flagship status, exclusive level of features and 115 kWh battery capacity, estimated starting prices for the Romanian market are forecast to be positioned in the upper segment of large electric SUVs, most likely in an indicative range between 55,000 and 68,000 euros (VAT included), depending on the chosen version (Design RWD or Excellence AWD) and the optional packages.
